Dawn Ng presents a new installation, titled Merry Go Round (2020), as part of the Strange Things pop-up contemporary art exhibition in an old factory presented by TWENTY TWENTY (Singapore Arts Club).
Merry Go Round invites visitors to experience the confounding phenomenon of collapsing dimensions and the unravelling of time. The work features a massive orbit of folding mirror planes and gradient hues, echoing the soft peeling palette of a colossal warehouse. Soaring skywards and spanning nearly 20 metres, Merry Go Round alludes to the celestial ring of light encircling an inescapable black hole that urges one to confront the fragmented self, the divide of time and the states of reflexivity.
