Featuring recent works by many of Sullivan+Strumpf’s artists, ARRIVAL explores themes such as identity, materiality, and the construction of memory, as well as the fragility and malleability of the human condition. Presenting a range of contemporary artworks in diverse media – such as sculpture, painting, photography and installation – ARRIVAL encourages audiences to delve into the complexity of contemporary art practice.
As the first Australian gallery to establish its presence in Asia, Sullivan+Strumpf opened its exhibition space in 2016 at the renowned arts enclave, Gillman Barracks in Singapore.
Sullivan+Strumpf, founded in Sydney in 2005, presents the work of established and emerging artists at the forefront of contemporary art in the Asia-Pacific region. Since its inception, the gallery has been home to diverse, innovative and progressive exhibitions across a variety of media and genres. Sullivan+Strumpf has helped foster the careers of some of the most thought- provoking artists working in the region today.
Sullivan+Strumpf organises extensive solo and group exhibitions, not only in its Sydney and Singapore spaces, but also in collaboration with public galleries across Australia and international institutions. Representing 29 artists from the Asia-Pacific region, the gallery and its artists are active members of the arts community and participate in a wide variety of museum exhibitions, awards, residencies, events and festivals. Works are regularly acquired by institutions and key private collections. In order to foster a critical and educative dialogue between its artist and multiple audiences, the gallery constantly produces unique publications. Sullivan+Strumpf has participated in major contemporary art fairs in the Asia-Pacific region since 2010 and has also exhibited in fairs in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.
